Trans Niugini Tours has been operating continuously under the same
ownership since its inception in 1976. The owners, the Bates family,
are Australians who have continuously lived and worked in Papua New Guinea
for over 45 years. The company's head office is still located on its
original site in the highlands city of Mt.Hagen, where it continues
to operate coach tours offering cultural, ecological and adventure
tours in and around the Waghi Valley.
Trans Niugini Tours had humble beginnings running four-wheel drive adventure trips
around the highlands. In 1978 it acquired Karawari Lodge on the
Karawari River in the East Sepik Province. Seven years later in 1985
Ambua Lodge in the Southern Highlands Province was built. In 1989 the
MV Sepik Spirit was built in the PNG coastal city of Lae and sailed
to the Sepik River, where it has been operating ever since.
Malolo Plantation Lodge on the North Coast was acquired
and renovated in 1991. Bensbach Wildlife was added to its
portifolio in 2003. Rondon Ridge, the newest location, was built high above the city of Mt. Hagen and opened in 2006.
With so many years of experience you can be assured of quality and
professional services with PNG's leading inbound tour operator, to
