Beginning with a visit to the famous Tari valley, home of the flamboyant Huli Wigmen, this 12 day/11 night program ventures from the Highlands to the Sepik River and culminating in attendance at the 2007 Morobe Show. One of Papua New Guinea's oldest show's the Morobe Show gives a unique opportunity to learn and witness not only Papua New Guinea's varied traditional society, but also to learn about agricultural processes that are important to the modern PNG economy but which are also well known to consumers in developed countries.

Thu,_18 Oct. Upon your arrival in Port Moresby, you will be met by Trans Niugini Tours staff. You will then be transferred to the Gateway Hotel.

Fri, 19 Oct. Transfer from Gateway Hotel to Jacksons Airport by Trans Niugini Tours staff for your flight Air Niugini PX864 Port Moresby to Tari. Meet/Greet upon arrival and transferred to Ambua lodge. Ambua Lodge is high on the slopes of the Tari Valley - home of the Huli, a colourful and proud people, still largely living the same way that their ancestors did. The afternoon is spent exploring the area surrounding Ambua - high mountain forests with roaring waterfalls beckon the intrepid traveler.
Overnight Ambua Lodge.
Sat, 20 and Sun, 21 Oct. A full day of ecological and culturally based touring are sure to satiate those yearning for discovery. The Tari area is home to an incredible 13 species of birds of paradise, as well as numerous orchid species. Learn how the Huli live and how they interact with and use their environment.
Overnight Ambua Lodge.
Mon, 21 Oct. Today you leave Ambua Lodge and transfer to Ambua Airstrip for your charter flight to Sepik. Upon arrival in the Sepik, you will be transferred to the air-conditioned comfort of the MV Sepik Spirit. Inspired by the architechture of the "haus tambaran" or spirit house, the MV Sepik Spirit has a truly unique design. With its shallow draught, it allows travel to rarely visited areas of the Sepik River and its tributaries in comfort.

Tue, 23 and Wed, 24 Oct. Two full days are spent exploring the many waterways of the Sepik and its tributaries including visits to traditional Sepik Villages. The Sepik River is one of the largest rivers in the world - in terms of flow. Steeped in mystery, the people of the Sepik area have fascinated anthropologists like Margaret Mead since the area was first visited. Part of the mystery and attraction of the Sepik peoples is their amazing carvings, now famous the world over.

Fri, 26 Oct. Fly by charter aircraft from Karawari to Mount Hagen, Mount Hagen Town is in the upper Wahgi Valley - a valley with some of the oldest evidence of agriculture in the world. Meet and assisted to your onwards flight to Lae. Meet and transfer from Nazab Airport to your hotel.

Sat, 27 Oct. The morning is spent at the Morobe Show -- mingling with other show goers and visiting stalls to learn about various agriculural industries in PNG. At the 2006 show, there were exhibits on farming and processing coffee, processing of coconuts and leatherback turtle conservation to name but a few. This is a fascinating opportunity to learn about the modern PNG economy. The afternoon is spent taking in some of the highlights of Lae City, Papua New Guinea's second largest centre.

Sun 28 Oct. A full day at the Morobe Show enjoying the many and varied sings sing groups from throughout Papua New Guinea. An exclusive pass which gives access to mingle with the groups for a certain period on the main arena will be issued to Trans Niugini Tours clients.

Mon, 29 Oct. Beginning your journey home, you depart Lae for Port Moresby on Air Niugini PX101. You will be met in Port Moresby by Trans Niugini Tours staff and transferred to the your onwards departure flight.

LAND COST:
US$3981.00 per person - (twin share room basis)

SINGLE ROOM SUPPLEMENT:
US$382.00 per person (Single throughout except twin share on the MV SEPIK SPIRIT and the Melanesian Hotel).

LAND COST INCLUDES:
Accommodation, airport transfers and tours on a seat in a bus basis, meals from dinner on 18 October to breakfast on 29 October, local guides and show gate fees.

LAND COST DOES NOT INCLUDE:
Domestic and international flights, visa fees and services of a personal nature such as beverage, laundry charges, phone and fax bills.

Special Note Regarding Charters: Maximum baggage allowance is 10kg per person and a maximum of 5kg carry on baggage per person. Large, hard sided suitcases are not permitted on charter aircraft.

BOOKING AND PAYMENT PROCEDURES

To secure space, a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of US$500.00 per person is required to confirm the booking .

Full payment is due on 15 August, 2007. We will confirm booking only on receipt of payment.

Deposits and payments should be made into our Wells Fargo US Dollar bank account, details of which can be found on our payment instructions page.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Cancellations received within a 30 day period prior to the commencement of the tour will attract a 50% fee of the total land and air charter costs. No refund is available after scheduled arrival in Papua New Guinea or in respect of any tour, accommodation, meals or any other service not utilized during the tour. Any additional costs incurred because of changes made during the itinerary by clients, will be to the clients account. Cancellations received after the 15 August, 2007, and prior to the 30 day period before the tour commences, will attract a fee of US$500 per person.

Upon receipt of deposits, you will be sent a confirmation packet and Client Information Booklet. We cannot stress enough the importance of reading this information prior to your arrival in Papua New Guinea.  The Client Information Booklet has been specifically designed to give you vital information about strict luggage weight limits on the small aircraft used throughout the tours, possible delays in aircraft movements, standards of accommodation, etc. - Information in advance may help you to adjust to situations better as they occur.
