Papua New Guinea has, perhaps, more orchids than any other country on Earth, with more than 1,000 orchids recorded and new species constantly being found. Trans Niugini Tours will be offering a touring program to showcase a few of Papua New Guinea's amazing orchids in the Mount Hagen area, the Karawari (Sepik) area and the Tari area - each area having its own distinct varieties of orchids.

This programme is suitable for international connections to Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney.

If spaces are available, this programme can feature the Port Moresby International Orchid Spectacular, held in early August each year.

ITINERARY
Day 1, Fri	Arrive in Port Moresby. You will be met by Trans Niugini Tours staff and assisted to your onwards domestic flight Air Niugini PX182. Upon arrival at Mount Hagen you will be transferred to Rondon Ridge. Nestled on the edge of the Wahgi Valley - a valley with some of the oldest evidence of agriculture. Day 2, Sat and Day 3, Sun	Two days are spent visiting different areas of the Mount Hagen area and surrounding slopes, searching for orchids. Each day, you will visit different altitudes - showcasing the huge range in diversity of orchids in the region. Overnights RONDON RIDGE
Day_4 Mon	Fly by charter aircraft from Mount Hagen to Karawari. The mountains start to give way until eventually vast tracts of dense tropical lowland rainforest cover the landscape for as far as the eye can see. From Karawari airstrip, you are transferred by river truck to Karawari Lodge. Sitting on a ridge above the Karawari River, Karawari Lodge boasts a spectacular view over hundreds of kilometres of dense tropical jungle. Inspired by local architecture and built with traditional materials, the lodge provides modern comforts. Day 5, Tue	Wake up to the chattering of Lorikeets and Eclectus Parrots. A full day is spent exploring the orchids of this incredibly ecologically diverse area. Overnight KARAWARI LODGE
Day 6, Wed	Fly by charter aircraft to Ambua airstrip over some of the most rugged and impressive landscapes in the world. The country between Ambua and the Sepik region is an amazing array of jagged limestone that seem to rise and drop at impossible angles. Ambua Lodge is high on the slopes of the Tari Valley - home of the Huli, a colourful and proud people, still largely living the same way that their ancestors did. The afternoon is spent exploring the area surrounding Ambua - high mountain forests with roaring waterfalls beckon the intrepid traveller. Overnight AMBUA LODGE - Orchid list

Day 8, Fri	Fly from Tari Airstrip to Port Moresby on Air Niugini. The afternoon is spent exploring the botanic gardens and other interesting land marks. Overnight AIRWAYS HOTEL
